OBEYING JESUS CHRIST
= SALVATION =
CHRISTIANITY
How Do I Find The Truth?
- There are only two (2) ways...and
one leads to destruction while the other leads to heaven (Matthew
7:13-14).
Those That Look To "Christ" And The Road To Heaven
- Must HEAR the gospel of
Christ (Romans 10:14; 1 Corinthians 15:1-2)
- Must BELIEVE the gospel of
Christ (Mark 16:16; Acts 16:31)
- Must REPENT of their sins to
Christ (Acts 3:19; 17:30)
- Must CONFESS their faith in
Christ (Matthew 10:31; Romans 10:9-10)
- Must be BAPTIZED (fully
immersed not sprinkled) into Christ for the forgiveness of their
sins (Galatians 3:17; Romans 6:3-4; Acts 2:38; 22:16)
The Saved Are "Added" To The Church And Book Of Life By
Jesus
- You cannot "join" Christ's
church; it is not a club--it is a commitment to a way of life
- The same process that makes one a
Christian also makes one a member of Christ's church (Acts 2:41)
- Christ will add you to His church
(Acts 2:47) after you have believed in Him, repented of all sins,
confessed faith in Him, and been baptized into Him - then He will
write your name in the Book Of Life
- There is one Lord, one Faith and one
Baptism (Ephesians 4:5)
- There is one Body (Ephesians 4:5)
- The church is His Body (Ephesians
1:22-23; Colossians 1:18)
Those In Christ (Christians) Should Worship God (John 4:23, 24; Heb.
10:25)
Worship consists of:
- Singing
(Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16)
- Praying
(Acts 2:42; 1 Timothy 2:1)
- Giving
(1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 9:7)
- Partaking of the Lord's Supper
on first day of the week (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:26)
- Preaching and teaching the gospel
(Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15)
- We As God's Children, Should Grow in
the Christian graces (2 Peter 1:5-7)
- Study God's Word (1 Timothy 2:15)
- Live a clean, Godly life (Matthew
5:16)
- Repent and pray for forgiveness when
God's law is violated and resolve the same will not be repeated
(Acts 8:22)
NOT ALL WILL BE SAVED
Those that choose not the truth and
choose not to follow Jesus Christ to the road to Heaven will perish.
"Many will say to me on that
day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name
drive out demons and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them
plainly, "I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into
practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock."
(Matthew 7:22-24)
HIS PLAN TO COMMUNICATE HIS WORD TO EVERY MAN
Jesus would not have allowed Himself
to be sacrificed on the cross for us without first insuring that we
would have a means of knowing His (not man's) plan of salvation. He
planned for all people to hear that He is the true Son of God, and the
ONLY WAY to salvation, first through His Apostles, and then through
His followers.
ARE WE SAVED BY HIS GRACE OR OUR DEEDS?
We are saved through the grace of God
. . . not by our deeds. However, because we are saved by His grace, we
are then expected to live a life devoted to carrying on His plan of
communicating His holy word in every corner of the world, because He
loves all men, and like a Father loves his children, He does not want
to see anyone destroyed, but instead, longs for us to follow Him and
be with Him eternally.
". . . .But join with me in
suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, who has saved us and
called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but
because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in
Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been
revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has
destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light
through the gospel." (2 Timothy 1:8-10)
WHAT MUST "YOU" DO TO RECEIVE SALVATION?
According to Jesus Christ's New Testament, He
said you must . . .
BELIEVE IN HIM
- "Whoever believes and is
baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be
condemned." (Mark 16:16)
- " . . . Believe in the Lord
Jesus, and you will be saved . . ." (Acts 16:31)
REPENT SIN
- "In the past God overlooked
such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to
repent." (Acts 17:30)
- Peter replied, "Repent and be
baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit." (Acts 2:38)
CONFESS THAT HE IS LORD
- "For it is with your heart that
you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you
confess and are saved." (Romans 10:10)
- "Simon Peter answered,
"You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." (Matthew
16:16)
- "I believe that Jesus Christ is
the Son of God." (Acts 8:37)
BE BAPTIZED
- "Whoever believes and is
baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be
condemned." (Mark 16:16)
- Peter replied, "Repent and be
baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit." (Acts 2:38)
- "And he gave orders to stop the
chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water
and Philip baptized him." (Acts 8:38)
